Ahhh, fall is in the air. Or so I hear. So dust off those fall wardrobe pieces and find out where you could incorporate a new piece.
I love color – we’ve looked at some great color combos for the fall. But one of the coolest things you are seeing popping up everywhere for this fall is not just combos of color in different pieces of apparel but color blocking in individual pieces. I had planned to write on the trend but then saw the absolutely fantastic dress Michelle Dockery (of Downtown Abby) wore to the Emmys Sunday and fell in love with the trend all over again.
Now I’m sure my mom wouldn’t love this color combination but I think it so modern and lovely and unique. I wish I had somewhere to wear a dress like this.
But color blocking can be incorporated into you career or casual wardrobe. Right off the runway, here’s a way that you can incorporate color blocking into your winter outwear:
Minus the weird legwear – no one but a runway model can pull that off.
There’s also some great ways to incorporate the look for work. There are some adorable colorblocked dresses that you can wear alone or pair with an outer layer. Color blocked dresses can also be incredibly flattering if you are looking for a way to disguise a few extra pounds.
Look for an interesting color blocked blouse or sweater to pair with neutral pants if you’re in a more conservative environment. Even accessories or polished jackets can be a great way to bring the trend into the office without looking TOO trendy.
Most designers are doing it so just put “colorblocked” or something similar in their search field online and it will pull up some great options – I just found an adorable Ann Taylor work dress simply by using color block search terms on their website.
What fall fashion look are you incorporating for work this season?
