Hello fashion friends!
I almost missed today’s very important Fashion Friday because the kids birthday is this weekend! Mania!
I’m here though and today I need YOUR help! I have a fashion dilemma that only my fashion forward friends can solve.
My company hosts a TED-talk type event for company participants and attendees. Well, this year, I was selected to be one of the 12 presentations! (Yea! So excited!)
However, with the theme of Untitled this year, we’re doing a dual headshot session. One is supposed to represent our job at the company and one is supposed to represent us outside the company.
The inside the company one is pretty easy – I’m a corporate energy attorney so I can wear a suit with simple jewelry and make up and I’m there. HOWEVER… I’m struggling with the non-job headshot look.
I do spend time at the farm and the ranch with the kids and my hubby but that’s not really me so a “Western” look will not work.
Of course, I write/blog, but I don’t want a headshot existing for all time with me in a bun, no make up, and an old t-shirt.
I speak but that professional look doesn’t vary a ton from my day job. It’s brighter, a bit.
Here’s where you come in – you are today’s Fashion Friday advisor. I need you to give me (a) my personal/outside the office look and style, and (b) where to buy that look. I’m talking specifics ladies. The shoot is next week so I can’t buy on-line. You have to give me brick and mortar stores where I can go THIS weekend (you know, when I’m not entertaining family in from out-of-town and hosting multiple triplet birthday parties, because of course) and find this outfit.
A few key things to know:
- It’s a headshot. So cute bottoms or shoes will go unnoticed. I have to show a noticeable visual difference from the chest up!
- The shoot is seasonless, so colors won’t matter except I have to find them in stock or repurpose things I have. Also, I’d like to stay away from colors that wash me out like tans, creams, oranges, and browns.
- It’s going to be circulated and promoted within my entire company, so nothing too nutty.
- Also, if you have an interesting twist for the corporate counsel look, I’m open on those ideas. Right now, I’m thinking pinstripe navy jacket with a Jackie O-style oversized pearl necklace.
Alright ladies, post in the comments here or on Facebook or Twitter. I need ideas and links, so bring it on.
I’m back with general public fashion advice next week. Until then, have a great weekend!
