I love it when you guys let me veer off into streams of consciousness for Fashion Fridays.
I haven’t done it in a while, but here’s the random things I’m thinking about lately in the fashion genre.
1. Lip gloss – I love a fresh lip gloss in my handbag come summertime. I think it gives a little pizzaz to your summer look and can be worn from day to evening. However, there are lots of bad (read icky-feeling) lip glosses out there. After reading these helpful reviews just out from Fashionista, I’m thinking I’ll try the Buxom and/or the Urban Decay. What say you? Have you found a lip gloss you love for summer that doesn’t feel like glue???
2. Earrings – Girls, I have to wear clip earrings. I had my ears pierced at 12, but I was holding a baby in college who ripped the loop right out of my earlobe. The skin never grew back together, and if I want to pierce my ears (which I do, I really do), apparently I have to go to a plastic surgeon to fix my earlobe first (not gonna happen).
So you know what I do? I troll eBay for vintage clip earrings. Between some steals on gorgeous clip-on earrings I’ve found pseudo-vintage on eBay and some fun costume finds from an eBay store based out of France, I’m okay with my life burden of missing out on the stunning delicate dangle earrings all you pierced ears girls get to wear.
3. Hobbs – someone report out. Has anyone shopped at Hobbs? After my post about dresses being all the rage, I’m trying to do better. I’ve been on the look out for reasonable dresses. I’m dying over the work dresses Hobbs of London is selling. What say you? I’d love to try this olive green Josefina dress for work, but I’m sort of nuts about this sunny Twitchell number (work appropriate?). I’d for sure have to catch these on sale because I can’t be spending $200+ on dresses.
4. The essential sheath – In the summer, this piece will be your best friend. Pair it with peep toe wedges and a pretty cardigan for a more informal work day, or pair it with a bold blazer and high heeled nude pump for a power lunch or meeting. Timeless and dependable, you need a couple of these in your closet. I like Tahari’s v neck sheath from Nordstrom’s for only $119, or if you’re willing to go for a pop of color, you can’t miss with this bright Eliza J crepe sheath (I love crepe!).
Okay, so it’s streams of consciousness Fashion Friday! What’s on your mind? What recommendation or question do you have today? Sound off!
