The Dish on Career, Fashion, Faith, and Family

Missing You, and Labor Day Too

September 6, 2016 by Gindi Leave a Comment

Hey y’all, it’s a week of travel so I’m not around much (for a series of 8 days, I’m only in town one full day)!

Didn’t want you to think I’d forgotten you.  In October, some bloggers do this 31 days of writing about one particular topic.  After the past few weeks, I’m thinking I may share some of our kid sagas.  I don’t write on Sundays, and Fridays would stay fashion, but otherwise, boy do I have plenty of material.

I survived Labor Day.  It was rough.  Kids coming down with colds and tons of work.  Appropriate for labor day I suppose.  We were all at the farm Saturday and Sunday. While the hubby bailed hay, I entertained kids, or tried to, and cooked and did other random work  They loved fishing and catching frogs, but I was pretty fried.  And of course, the football.  Oh the football since I now have a football-obsessed child.

Monday, I completely redid our kitchenette/eating area/art room.  The kids are going to have four nights of homework which will cover different subjects, so we have got to implement an organized homework system.  I tried to make the space multifunctional for eating and crafts and homework without any of it infringing on the other’s space.  The kids and I worked for hours redoing the space and when I wasn’t working on that I cooked and cleaned.

Can I tell you how happy I am to have a job where I get paid to sit and think and offer opinions?  It was a relief to get back today.

Tomorrow is the eldest’s long awaited D.C. trip.  As you may remember, I try to take the kids solo on a trip. The schedule is always a little unpredictable.  Last year, the baby got Alabama in the summer and little bit got Vermont in the fall, but it’s taken this long to get this dude his D.C. trip.  He’s obsessed with politics!  His precious teacher made him a journal to chronicle his trip and come back to share with the class. I am so nuts about this idea I’m going to try it for all future kid trips.

So that’s it from the peanut gallery.  I have my Fashion Friday post ready to go as promised after last Friday’s kicker of upside down fashion trends. Then I’ll pop back in next week to report out on the goings-on.

Until then, have a great week!

Welcome

Come on in. I have a reservation just for you. I know life is busy. I would love for us to step out for a relaxing lunch but schedules don't always allow. So let's pop open that salad or sandwich sitting in front of our computers, and we'll have lunch right here. A few minutes is all we need to connect to community.
