I have an open text chain with five girlfriends. It can get a little nuts sometimes! Some days, it’s hysterical. A few days ago, I got this text, “I rarely recommend product- I’m a hard grader. But here are 2 inexpensive products that might be worth a try…”
As a result of that text chain, all the girls weighed in on some of their favorite products. I thought what better free, real word product reviews (I get NO compensation) for my fashion friends.
So here goes… products we love. Today’s Fashion Friday is my friends version of My Favorite Things!
The products that inspired the post were these first two (which my friend Brandy proceeded to write an actual review for me!):
1. Vitamin C serum
What I love: it works. My fine lines were less noticeable within a week. Within 2 weeks my skin was brighter and fresher looking. Friends noticed the improvement. The dropper is easy to use. It feels nice on your skin. The price point is amazing. You can use it under your normal skin care routine
Cons: none
It’s best for people with fine lines and skin that needs a fresher look.
2. Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer
What I love: this is the easiest to use and least smelly self tanner I have tried. I run a lot so I have small broken blood vessels that are not pretty. I want to hide them a bit so I can wear summer dresses without shame! To use it, you shower and while you are still wet just rub it on like a moisturizer. Super fast and easy. Then dry off like normal and go about your day. A tan slowly develops. It isn’t streaky. It isn’t orange. Plus, it doesn’t stain your clothes or towels.
Cons: it doesn’t make you super dark, so if you like that look you might prefer another product. It’s a good golden glow not a dark tan. Super affordable.
Best for fair-skinned people in a hurry who want a summer boost or anyone who isn’t good at applying the spray on kind of tanner.
3. Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Treatment Mask
After Brandy promptly assigned all the girls product review homework, my friend Dana (who has the most gorgeous skin you have ever seen in person) recommended this. She’s oily to t-zone so she recommends only using this mask twice a month. “It works great for deep hydration.” However, I’m chronically dry skin, so I plan to use it once a week to help refresh my poor dry tired skin.
4. Garnier Skin Renewal Anti Puff Eye Roller
Then my girlfriend Cherice chimed in with, “There’s nothing like having luggage delayed to find out which products are most irreplaceable…” Boy, isn’t that true. Her contribution was this roller because: It feels really nice and cool rolling on, it absorbs quickly, and it has caffeine in it so it adds some pep to my tired eyes. I also roll it over that crease/laugh line that forms on your nose between your eyes. It’s gone from being a permanent line with this roller.
Brandy added, and I have this too, that this also comes in a concealer color to help dark circles and it’s even better when you pop it in the fridge and roll it over your eyes in the morning.
5. Olay Total Effects Refreshing Scrub
I got this recommendation from Dana over a year ago and use it religiously now. Probably three times a week. I am terrible about exfoliating and this make up remover is a scrub too so you can accomplish them both at the same time. My favorite thing is the citrus notes with this scrub – I love citrus. Typically I would tell people with sensitive skin to stay away from scrubs but Dana says she has pretty sensitive skin and she loves it and has used it for years.
Every single one of these items can be found at your local Wal Mart or Target without the price tag that comes with so many product recommendations. So now it’s your turn! What is your can’t live without product? Share for the good of the community. And next week (hopefully with the help of my friend Dana) we’re going to feature some of the worst fashion products of the year. Get ready to spit your coffee out girls. Have a great weekend.
