There are no words.
The fall fashion trend reports are coming out and I can’t help but shake my head.
Today’s Fashion Friday was inspired by my friend Dana who sent me a link with a one word introduction: NO!
Let me warn you, today’s post is not for the weak of heart. I am going to show you some frightening images. I hope it serves as a reminder that just because some woman’s fashion editor says this is “in fashion” does not mean it is fashionable.
Up first, the jacket that inspired this post, dubbed as “The One Jacket Every Stylish Woman Must Have.” Y’all, there are just no words. Let me show you the image first, fair warning, and then we’ll discuss.
Friends, this is an exact quote from the article: This fall the “band” jacket is making a comeback. Yes, the same jacket you might have worn in marching band during high school.
My head hurts. Please do not purchase or rent or wear or borrow this item this fall. I don’t care that it’s made by Dolce & Gabana. They’ve lost their ever lovin’ fashion sense.
In other news, some random editor is calling the prairie dress this fall’s maxidress. It is not. I actually believe there is no such thing as a fall maxidress but am willing to be contradicted. Images range from Refinery 29’s love of the fashionable prairie dress (you cannot put these words together without choking) to Elle Canada’s proclamation that 2016’s It Girl is Prairie meets Preppy meets Rocker (you can’t make this stuff up). Vogue had a series of options of how to wear the prairie trend – I only offer one of the many…
Do not wear this trend. Especially if you do not actually live in a little house on the prairie.
There are more. Tinsel is one of this fall’s trends. Tinsel. You know, like the stuff you decorated your Christmas tree with when you were a kid? Apparently David Bowie boots are on all the runways. Mercy. Someone hold me.
(Can I point out that everyone wearing this fashion looks pretty hacked about having to put it on? It’s not just model face. They know they’re wearing band jackets and tinsel…)
There is so much good and beautiful fashion out there. Next week, we’ll even show some of the timeless pieces you must own and places you can find beautiful iterations of gorgeous fashion. But some Fashion Fridays are all about the intervention.
Friends don’t let friends wear bad fashion.
With all of the lovely options out there, please don’t let me see you in a tinsel covered band jacket. It may be hard for me to keep you as my friend.
